WEEK 1 -
HORN OF AFRICA
|
|
DAY 1 - WEEKLY SUMMARY
FEBA Radio has great impact in the Horn of Africa. In
countries like Ethiopia, Somalia and Eritrea, Christians who belong
to evangelical churches are often subject to persecution. In
Eritrea, Christians are taken captive and held under terrible
conditions simply because they were in prayer at the time or in
possession of a Bible. Pray for the tremendous spiritual need which
exists in this part of Africa- and for programmes to evoke
favourable response from people who are inclined to ask penetrating
questions about religion.
|
|
DAY 2 Pray for great wisdom and discernment for our
Development Director for East Africa who is based in England from
where he provides leadership as for FEBA’s work in this region. Pray
for his strategic planning meetings with local leaders.
|
|
DAY 3
Pray for the project co-ordinator based in Ethiopia from
where he co-ordinates the project and works closely with local
partners and church groups. Pray that the fruit of these
partnerships will lead to good programmes which will touch many
lives.
|
|
DAY 4
A number of language projects in the Horn of Africa region
require more funds. Pray that additional donors will be recruited to
support the needy projects.
|
|
DAY 5
Special programmes produced for illiterate people have great impact
in the Horn of Africa. Story-telling plays an important role
in the programme content. Pray that more production teams will
follow this highly effective method.
|
|
DAY 6
FEBA Radio is part of a partnership which in 2009 established a new
radio station in southern Sudan. Pray that the radio station will
develop a vast listenership and be instrumental in the changing of
many lives.
|
|
DAY 7 A
former very prominent public figure was recently released after many
years of imprisonment. Upon his release he wrote to FEBA Radio: “As
a Christian I was very lonely throughout, but your programmes kept
me going”
|
|
WEEK
2 -
MIDDLE EAST
|
|
DAY 1 - WEEKLY SUMMARY :
FEBA Radio has a potential listenership of over 250 million people
in the Arabic world. Our broadcasts reach listeners in Jordan,
Lebanon and Syria; Egypt, Sudan and other countries in North-Africa;
Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and countries in the Gulf. Because this
region is technologically advanced, modern methods such as the
internet are used to reach the population with great effect.
Pray that FEBA Radio’s ministry in this region will be effective in
answering the many questions which seekers struggle with.
|
|
DAY 2
Pray for FEBA’s Development Director for this region.
The team is geographically displaced in their programme
production and our Director oversees the contributions received from
various other participating organisations.
|
|
DAY 3
Pray for the FEBA Project co-ordinator who is now
involved on a full time basis. He handles FM and Shortwave programme
matters for broadcasting to Iraq with the Iraqi team via telephone,
SMS and email.
|
|
DAY 4
Pray for FEBA’s FM broadcast team in Iraq – that the youth and
broader public will be captivated by the content of the programmes.
Pray that the team will develop great friendships and relationships
with the listeners over the air.
|
|
DAY 5 During
the course of 2009, the FM Middle East team and their other
partners enjoyed thorough radio training. Pray that those involved
in the various audio projects will apply their acquired skill to
great effect in their radio work.
|
|
DAY 6
Thank God for our presenter of Arabic programmes for Yemen who fled
the country years ago after becoming a Christian. “Even though I
cannot return, I am back in Yemen every evening over the airwaves”.
Pray for his safety and that of his family.
|
|
DAY 7 Pray for our admin
co-ordinator who has been doing valuable promotional and follow-up
work for FEBA Middle East. She carries a massive workload in the
Middle East office. Please pray that she will experience the Lord’s
blessing.
|
|
WEEK
3 -
AFGHANISTAN
|
|
DAY 1 - WEEKLY SUMMARY
FEBA’s Development Director for Central Asia is charged with the
radio ministry in Afghanistan. The need for the Gospel is great in
this ravished country. Programmes broadcast to Afghanistan are aimed
at bringing hope to suffering people in difficult circumstances.
Pray that more listeners will tune in to the Dari and Pashtu
programmes and make contact with FEBA’s radio personnel. Pray
with us that many more lives will be touched and changed as a
result.
|
|
DAY 2 Pray for the presenters of the Dari and Pashtu
programmes. It is vital that these remain in tune with trends and
circumstances of the listeners in order to address their needs
effectively.
|
|
DAY 3
Pray for the follow-up of listeners who contact us. Many listeners
have great need of a Bible and other programme material such as
cassettes and CD’s. Pray that the contents will reach listeners.
|
|
DAY 4
Pray for those responsible for the Dari and Pashto websites. Pray
that the connection between radio and the internet will be
strengthened so that more internet users will tune in to FEBA’s
radio programmes.
|
|
DAY 5
Great need exists for programme presenters in the Pashtu language.
Pray that the Lord will provide more people to assist with programme
production. Thank the Lord for a new candidate who is also a strong
possibility.
|
|
DAY 6
Pray for strong partnerships for the Pashtu radio ministry. All who
were involved in this project at one time agreed that “the
message of Jesus Christ is to be presented in a manner that will
touch the day-to-day life of Pashtu listeners”.
|
|
DAY 7 Pray for more funds to be injected in the Pashtu radio
work. Organisations previously involved in this project withdrew due
to global economic downturn. Pray for new supporters to offer their
resources for this vital ministry.
|
|
WEEK
4 -
IRAQ
|
|
DAY 1 - WEEKLY SUMMARY
Our Arabic ministry’s shortwave programmes have reached Iraq and
other Arabic countries ever since 1971. Many testimonies of new
believers confirm that FEBA Radio’s work is most fruitful. Last
year, FEBA Radio’s new FM station in Iraq was received with great
anticipation and joy. In the midst of political instability this
station brings a message of hope to encourage the downtrodden.
Please commit this week to prayer for the Gospel of Jesus Christ to
reach the needy and suffering people of Iraq.
|
|
DAY 2
– Pray for the people of Iraq of which the majority live in total
spiritual darkness. Pray that FEBA Radio’s shortwave broadcasts will
stir many to ponder and enquire over who ‘Jesus’ truly is.
|
|
DAY 3
-
Pray that the FM radio station in Iraq will grow in popularity
because of their quality programming with the local population and
that the personnel will gain a good reputation with government
officials.
|
|
DAY 4
-
Programmes on this FM station include local news, information,
music, humour and testimonies on God’s love. Pray that these
programmes will be properly planned and arranged to attract much
attention.
|
|
DAY 5
-Pray
for the safety of the FEBA personnel and the office complex. A
number of the detonations which rocked Baghdad posed threat to FEBA
Radio’s personnel and their offices.
|
|
DAY 6
-
Pray especially for the safety of our presenters who venture out
onto the streets to record interviews. Pray for courage but also
caution so that they will present clear and uninhibited testimony in
their programmes.
|
|
DAY 7
-
Local Christian leaders are often ignorant in the use of radio as an
effective means of drawing closer to their communities. Pray that
our programmers will be successful by showing these leaders that
traditional sermons and hymns are not always the most effective ways
of building relationships with listeners.

Special Appeal |
 |
The 2010 Soccer World cup offers us
a great opportunity to witness for Christ!

Countries involved in the 2010 FIFA
Soccer World Cup
FEBA Radio, together with other international partners, are
involved in the 2K+ project which produces programmes
in various languages and includes testimonies from
international sport stars and administrators who are confessing
Christians.
For the production of these programmes during the
2010 World cup period FEBA Radio SA needs additional funds.
Please do consider a gift which will enable us
to share the love of Christ with millions
of “soccer mad” fans across the world who do not know
the GREAT CHAMPION, JESUS CHRIST.
